Common Abortion FAQs
Did you know...?
- Nearly 1 in 4 pregnancies end in miscarriage. That means a positive pregnancy test doesn’t always mean you’ll need an abortion. An ultrasound is the only way to confirm a viable pregnancy. We offer no-cost viability ultrasounds to give you accurate information.
- The FDA has approved the abortion pill only up to 10 weeks of pregnancy. Knowing how far along you are with an ultrasound is key to finding out if this option is safe for you.
- Using just the date of your last period can be misleading and might lead to an incomplete abortion. A viability ultrasound done by trained professionals is the most accurate way to date your pregnancy.
-
Many women who’ve had abortions say they felt some level of pressure to go through with it. The truth is, you have the legal right to make your own decision about your pregnancy. No one, whether it's a partner, spouse, or parent, can force, threaten, or pressure you into having a medical or surgical abortion.
If you're feeling pressured or unsure about support for parenting or adoption, talk to someone at our center. We’re here to advocate for you and explain your legal rights.
You are the one who gets to decide what happens next. If someone is trying to make that choice for you, know that you have the right to say no.
If you're feeling pressured or unsafe, request an appointment to speak with a trained client consultant. If you're in immediate danger or worried about your safety or your baby's, call 911. -
If you're thinking about abortion, your first step is to schedule a pre-termination appointment that includes an ultrasound.
An ultrasound can tell you if your pregnancy is progressing. This is important because the type of abortion you're eligible for depends on how far along you are and your medical history. The procedure and its cost can also vary based on these factors.
An ultrasound also shows whether your pregnancy is viable. It's the only way to confirm that your pregnancy is developing as expected. Studies show that up to 1 in 4 pregnancies don’t continue. Some women don’t realize they’ve had a miscarriage until it’s seen on an ultrasound. If that's the case, a doctor will need to provide follow-up care. -
The cost of an abortion depends on the type of procedure you qualify for and whether the abortion pill is still an option at your stage of pregnancy. Costs can range from several hundred to several thousand dollars.
Before making any decisions, it’s important to know how far along you are. An ultrasound can confirm this. At Lifebridge Pregnancy Center, we provide ultrasounds at no cost. While we do not perform or refer for abortion procedures, we’re here to give you accurate information so you can take your next step with confidence. -
We offer no-cost ultrasounds to confirm if your pregnancy is viable and to determine how far along you are.
