When Did I Conceive?

When Did I Conceive?

When Did I Get Pregnant—and Can I Know Who the Father Is?

Finding out you're pregnant brings a lot of questions—and one of the biggest might be when exactly did this happen? If you’re trying to figure out your conception date (and maybe even who the father is), you’re not alone. Need answers now? You can text anonymously and for free with a nurse at (803) 990-3323.

Unlike tracking your period, figuring out the exact moment of conception isn’t an exact science. But your body works in patterns—and those patterns can help you make a solid estimate of when you got pregnant.

What Date Did I Conceive?

No matter how far along you are—2 weeks or 20—you can often use a little simple math to narrow down your conception window.

Each month, most people who menstruate ovulate (release an egg) during a window that lasts 2–3 days. This usually happens around 14 days after the start of your last period.

Conception Date Calculator

One of the easiest ways to estimate when you conceived is to count about two weeks forward from the first day of your last period. That gives you a rough idea of when ovulation occurred, which is likely when conception happened.

If counting isn’t your thing, there are free conception date calculators online that can do the math for you. Or feel free to text us at (803) 990-3323 for help from a real nurse.

Keep in Mind…

These are just educated guesses. Everyone's cycle is different—some ovulate earlier or later than average, and others have longer or shorter windows of fertility.

Also, conception doesn’t always happen the moment you have sex. Sperm can live inside the body for up to five days. That means even if you had sex before ovulation, sperm could still fertilize an egg once it’s released.¹ ²

Conception Date from Ultrasound

Ultrasounds can give you a more accurate estimate of your conception date. Early in pregnancy, fetuses grow at a predictable rate, so measuring the size can help date the pregnancy with a closer range than calendar math alone.

Ultrasounds also check for signs that the pregnancy is healthy—ruling out issues like miscarriage or ectopic pregnancy

While OB/GYN clinics can perform ultrasounds, they often involve paperwork, appointments, and billing. Many local pregnancy centers offer free ultrasounds or ultrasound referrals, no insurance required.
